This work draws on the language of surrealism, merging a realistic urban streetscape with fantastical elements to break the logic of space and gravity—creating a dreamlike visual experience. The red-brick architecture and traffic signage depict an ordinary city scene, yet the presence of elephants standing atop buildings, birds gradually fading mid-flight, floating cyclists, and a cluster of ascending balloons disrupt this familiarity, constructing a paradoxical tension between the known and the uncanny. The puddle reflection below offers not only compositional symmetry, but also symbolizes the subconscious mirroring and questioning of reality. The elephants—symbols of memory and strength—appear weightless as they drift across the sky, suggesting a loosening of reality’s structure and the quiet emergence of the unconscious. This piece attempts to break the boundary of reality through visual language, inviting viewers to reflect on the forgotten imagination and longing for freedom that lie beneath the surface of everyday urban life.
